And we’re off

Arbor I made mom for her birthday/mother's day while back in Vermont this spring

I am headed to summer camp #1 this Wednesday in Bend Oregon. It is technically a US ski team camp, with a handful of non team athletes who were invited to train along side. There are four US camps this summer which I would like to attend as my time with fast girls to push me. Locations include Bend Oregon, Alaska (decision of ability to attend still pending), Lake Placid NY, and Park City Utah/Canmore Alberta.

When I come back to the Midwest, I will spend some time with the CXC juniors and new coach Igor up in Hayward, train with all the great active individuals I have come in contact with around the twin cities,  continue to coach with high school groups, continue my random methods of gathering money towards this lifestyle, and be apart of the community as much as I can in general while in MN.

This spring has definitely been a bit stressful, but I am hoping to piece together all the building blocks that are crucial for athlete development. It’s time to put focus on the fine details if I want to race World Cups this winter (which I do), so I plan to come into the game swinging a bigger bat at my weaknesses….and the knees of others….JUST KIDDING 😉 .

Side note, I have been picking up new skills (and refining really, really rusty ones) while lending a hand/helping to coach a new rowing club close to where I live. I have discovered that growing up near Concept 2 and knowing the Dreissigackers gives me automatic rowing knowledge!

Now I leave you with something randomly entertaining that I found online:

All I Need to Know About Life I Learned From Santa:

– It’s as much fun to give as it is to receive.

– Some days it’s ok to feel a little chubby.

– Make your presents known.

– Always ask for a little bit more than what you really want.

– Bright red can make anyone look good.

– Wear a wide belt and no one will notice how many pounds you’ve gained.

– If you only show up once a year, everyone will think you’re very important.
